Remember to LEAD

When you get feedback for your company/solution that was not what you were expecting, make sure to LEAD.

  1. Listen: Actively listen to what is being said or explained. Do not hesitate to ask for clarity. Make sure you truly understand the message.
  2. Engage: Have an impactful conversation. Do not put your defenses up. Have a conversation learn and understand what their feedback means.
  3. Assess: After having a conversation, take some personal time to reflect and assess. What did the feedback suggest to you? Do not be overly critical, but be realistic with the suggestions.
  4. Desire: Look to achieve the best outcomes. Does the feedback help you grow? Does the feedback enhance your offering? Asking questions that show your desire to be successful will lead to you making the best choices for your company or brand.

I see way too often that an innovator will fight back against the feedback, which may limit their opportunity to grow. Their feedback may help your idea, confirm a fear, or develop a new strategy to move forward.
